Yes, it’s true. I am shamelessly plugging, but let me assure you that I come bearing a win-win situation.
Here goes…
It should come as no surprise that this blog has as much to do with me typing out my crazy streams of consciousness, as it is about asking people to donate to the Arthritis Society (and me! …by extension).
But here is what you can get out of it!
On the surface I may look like a Nova Scotian…pale, dry skin is a dead give-away….but deep down, I’m a Bermudian. In a nutshell, I hate winter. Give me 35 degrees and I’m a happy camper. Give me minus 10 and I want to jump out of my own skin.
Ever heard of hibernation? I’d rather live off tin cans of ravioli and Zoodles and see no sunlight for five months than trudge through snow and slush every day. Good thing I chose to hike a snow-covered mountain, eh?! Smart….real smart. Did I mention this trek was out of my comfort zone?
Anyway, back to the plug…
In an effort to keep warm (read: thawed, not frozen) on my walks to and from the office, I sought after the crochet services of my Mom. She makes hats. And PS…they’re pretty darn cute.
And shock of all shocks, I’m now crocheting them myself.
Side note: Technically, my crochet habits are not a shock to people who know me…I am kind of an 80 year-old trapped in a 25 year-old’s body. Aside from crocheting, I say things like “ducks in a row” and “oh my goodness.” And not as a joke).
I crochet for fun and I also….
*here comes the shameless part*
….sell them! *wink wink *nudge nudge.
Sooooo…..you interested?!
Here’s the pitch:
*Note: if you read it really fast, it’s like it didn’t even happen*
They cover your ears…
They keep your head warm… (first-party testimonial)
They come in many colours…
They’re for adults and kids…
And they’re cute (my models make the difference
).
…I also make boy’s hats.
Okay, that’s it. I’m done. Pitch over.
BUT if you like them, want one or want to send me a comment (preferably about how to market a product – I need help!), I’m more than happy to oblige.
For children, it’s $12, and adults are $15.
In true M-E form, here’s a final thought for the day:
Shameless plugging is like wearing a thong for the first time – uncomfortable yet liberating

I’ll take one in white! E-mail me with any details I need to know!

Hi, I’m a friend of Laura’s and loved her hat. Could I please get one too? I’d like a black hat w/ a red flower. My head is approx the same size as hers. Can I just give Laura the $12 (that’s retardedly cheap btw), to pass on to you?
Thanks!

Hi there!
Thank you for the order. Are you in class with Laura? That’d be great if you could give the money to her. I’d probably be able to have this done for you by later next week. It is a bit cheaper I know, but I really enjoy doing them! However, if you would like to give more…I do accept donations
just kidding!
Thanks again for the support!

Hi Mary-Eleanor,
How goes the good fund raising fight?
I was wondering if I could perhaps chat with you about your hat flowers?
Say “Hi!” to everyone in MarCom for me.
Cheers,
Annette

Hey speek! So, here’s my order from BC…1 in Red (the bright, fire engine red shown in your photo of colours – normal size), 1 in the bluey-grey colour (that Mum did for each of us – normal size) and 1 in the light blue from your photo (size should be slightly less than normal e.g. 1- 1 1/2″ smaller I think).
I may have a couple more coming to you, but that’s it for now! Loves you and so proud of you : )
